In the cooling and lubrication systems of diesel generators, there may be gases such as air, steam, etc., which can affect the normal operation of the system and require air exhaust.
The process of venting air is also known as air release or exhaust. The method of exhausting air from diesel generators is as follows:
Find the air valve of the generator, usually located on the intake valve or intake duct of the unit.
Open the air valve and let the engine run for a period of time to gradually increase the internal pressure of the engine.
Wait for the engine to run for about 5 minutes, then turn off the engine and close the air valve.
After waiting for the pressure inside the engine to decrease, open the valve again and release the gas until it is in a pure state.
Close the air valve, check if the pressure inside the engine is normal, and ensure that the engine is running properly.
It should be noted that the safety of the operators should be ensured when venting, and they should not stay in the gas emission area to avoid causing harm to the human body. Meanwhile, exhaust should also be carried out in a well ventilated area to avoid gas poisoning.
Manual exhaust of diesel generator set
The core step of exhausting air from a diesel generator set is to release the air from the fuel system by pressing the manual oil pump and loosening the relevant pipeline joints.
There are various specific operation methods, and the following will provide a detailed introduction to several common methods:
Manual pump exhaust method:
Find the manual pump on the diesel filter and press it repeatedly until the pump pressure increases significantly and no bubbles emerge.
Release the high-pressure oil pipe and exhaust air method:
Loosen the high-pressure oil pipe of a certain cylinder, start the engine, and when fuel is sprayed from the high-pressure oil pipe of that cylinder, tighten the oil pipe before proceeding to operation 1 of the next cylinder.
Electric control unit pump exhaust method:
Put a plug on the return pipe on the fuel tank, start the vehicle for about 10 seconds and then release the return pipe. After connecting it, start the vehicle again and finally use the decoder to clear the fault code.
The precautions include:
Before venting, ensure that all components in the fuel system are installed and tightened to avoid air leakage.
The exhaust screw must be loosened enough to ensure that gas can be expelled, but at the same time, diesel will not flow out of the exhaust port.
The operating methods of diesel generator sets of different brands and models may vary slightly, so it is best to consult relevant operation manuals or professional technicians before performing air exhaust operations.
